Why, oh why? - Day 12

Ok, today's picture is not brilliant at all, but it has a point which I want to bring up, which is bugging me.

Today, at uni, alot of people were flaming Microsoft. And for no specific reason. Going on about how bad the Windows OS is, how buggy it is, how hard it is to use and other general complaints.

But hold on,
Back up the truck.

I can almost guarantee, if we took Microsoft out of the picture here - just suddenly. No further releases of Windows, no patches, no updates. What exactly would happen? Well, so many people would complain, be disappointed and frustrated. The Windows environment is by far the best (very controversial, I know) - sure, it has its faults, but so does Linux, Unix (Mac) and anything else. Microsoft releases frequent updates to combat these, and usually any bugs in the OS are triggered by 3rd Party software ( such as Toshiba BT drivers as I recently discovered ) - so ease up on the poor guys! They're doing a great job, and Window's is getting better with every release.

Yes, I am a Windows fan boy. Yes, I beta-test any release I can get my hands on legitimately. Yes.

And that concludes my geeky rant for the week.
An update in my life:
Uni is finished for the semester!!
Time to study for exams!

owen... windows has far more bugs then Linux and mac. and mac is actually the most stable and easy to use OS. its been proven with performance even with 3rd party apps. the only reason windows is still around is because it was the first of its kind! and now mac and Linux are learning from its mistakes. sure its not as bad as people make out, but its still the worst main stream OS today. XP isnt to bad now. first release it was, same thing will probably happen with vista. were as mac's first releases are quite stable and only need updating on some issues. it is also the most good looking... you're an windows exclusive so cant comment on how good it is compared to mac, i cant either, but i do know that mac runs more demanding applications with out a high % of success. again, windows is not 'by far' the best! its up there and close, but not the best. why do you think more and more people are moving to mac, its not just the ads. + your a coder, there got no style anyway... lol jst jkes!

@Jono: Mac has it's place, and is excellent where that is...lol heck, Even I'd have a Mac if i could afford it. By far the best reffering to home, every day use by people who have no general idea. BTW - I also have a linux box now, running a custom version of Kubuntu, for MCE boxes :)

I would just like to add that as a member of the general public who has little knowledge of these things (as I would assume many people also don't), I have no problem with windows, most people I know use windows except for my dad who plays around with linux. Window's also seems pretty straighforward to use, and I don't see the point in changing. So therefore, it i guess it can't be that bad, huh?

the only reason windows is the standard is because its got the largest market share. and therefore its what you get thought how to use at school, its not a bad thing, windows is ok if its for basic stuff and some games i guess, but its not the best.
Its like saying that, Honda cars a the awesome, when there not the best there just got a bigger market share then for instance Porche. and we know why that is... price, same goes for Mac, you pay for quality, and same with Windows, the more you pay the better your PC.
Windows has its place, and if the trend continues its going to become a smaller one. Macs are still a few years ahead in technology then windows, most techs what ague on that.
